"Not the Trinity we expected...."
Spirituality has always been present in people's lives and it takes many forms and shapes. It also roots the collective socio-political behaviors and influences the governance of the communities.
Religion is a sensitive topic and we will not venture into analyzing them in detail or taking sides for one versus the others. Nevertheless since they relate to many societal trends which have an overall impact on the economy and the world of finance, we ought to include them in our analytical framework.
Spirituality has evolved from the early days of shamanism & paganism to the main monotheist religions until the later part of the 20th century when their appeal was challenged by the rapid change in societies with the access to cheap credit and the rise of consumerism.
A new Cult centered on one's Self has emerged from the rise of living standards and focused on exploring and feeding one's mighty Identity through hedonism and exclusion.
This is the era of "Me, Myself and I" (MM&I). This form of Cult rather than Spirituality has far-reaching consequences on the society's structure, growth patterns, pensions and demographics.
In this section, we analyze the trends in Religions and we investigate the relationships they have with all the other themes in our scope.
