"Which Social Hierarchy for the 21st Century?"
Governance goes beyond politics per se at it defines how communities (societies, government bodies, corporations...etc...) and individuals regulate themselves according to their own social standards.
Public governance is a societal topic rarely explored in the Western world since democracy and free trade are the adopted regimes by default. Emerging economies follow a broader spectrum of governance regimes along the following dimensions:
- Socialist or capitalist economic structures.
- Democratic or autocratic forms of power.
- Inclusive or exclusive community behaviors.
As the economy has proven disappointing since the GFC, national politics have turned populist and polarized while geopolitics are drawing new lines of confrontation between the World Order inherited from the 20th century and new forms of alliances against it.
Private governance in the corporate world has also come under great scrutiny lately through a range of topics ranging from individual executives' behaviors to the structure of capitalism shaping our daily lives. Climate change, gender equality and social inclusion have become powerful themes in the Western world reshaping both private and public governances.
In this section, we revisit the various regimes and put them into perspective with the current socio-economic environment we live in.
