"Looking for a New Deal in socio-politics"
National politics have been fragmented since 2016 with the traditional parties struggling for relevance and survival, and with the rise of new political streams seizing the opportunity to shake the socio political agenda.
The electorate is confused and torn apart between their frustrations at the traditional political elites and their hope for real change. The resulting political scene is chaotic with the rise of inexperienced but vocal political challengers advancing fairly radical socio political views.
This political configuration raises concerns of manipulation of the public opinion from internal sponsors and/or from foreign entities while social unrest is brewing within the youth and the unprivileged who have nothing to lose from chaos.
While the G7 countries have solid institutions to ride through such political turbulences, the Emerging market countries have more fragile institutions and can fall prey to opportunistic forces. Each country's institutional framework will have nonetheless to reinvent itself to face these challenging times and to answer the general public's pressing demands.
In this section we analyze the trends and features of these new political movements which are intimately driven by the ideological, economic and societal issues at play.
We also tentatively explore the political landscape in each major country to extrapolate their recent evolution.
